SOPHIA KAPLANIS

Sophia was diagnosed with stage 4 alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2016 and was treated at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. When she first went through treatment she went on VAC (vincristine dactinomycin and cyclophosphamide) for 10 months followed by 35 rounds of proton radiation. In March 2018, Sophia relapsed and was then treated with olaratumab, vincristine and irinotecan for 7 months plus another 20 rounds of radiation.  After that, she went on maintenance for another 12 months on cyclophosphamide, irinotecan and temozolomide. Throughout that whole process she had about 3 surgeries. Sophia is currently in college and loves doing makeup!

"To fellow cancer patients out there: hang in there, it will pass and you CAN beat it. Treatment will go by way quicker than you think it will."
