In 2023, Cancer Kids First partnered once again with World Child Cancer to expand our reach across Africa and provide critical support for children and families in Cameroon, Ghana, and Malawi. Together, we raised close to $10,000 to fund welcome kits containing essentials such as water bottles, towels, food, and other basic necessities for patients at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana.

Beyond physical supplies, this initiative focused on psychosocial care. Funding supported play therapy programs that not only helped children better understand their treatment but also allowed them to continue developing socially and emotionally during their time in the hospital. In addition, donations helped cover transportation costs for families living in poverty, ensuring that children could consistently access life-saving care.

By addressing both practical and emotional needs, this project sought to reduce the overwhelming burden families face and to ensure that children battling cancer in these countries feel supported, understood, and cared for.
